As a Christ-centered Presbyterian Church we seek to joyfully share the good news of the sovereign love of God.

50% of our mission support is given to the Presbytery, Synod, and General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA). The remaining support is offered to select local and trans-local projects such as Salvation Army, Livingston Community Habitat for Humanity, New Tribes’ Missions, Christian Salvage Mission, Youth Haven Ranch, Joy for Jesus Ministry, and the Detroit Rescue Mission.

Congregational Mission Trip

First Presbyterian Church of Howell had ten participants in this year’s mission trip to the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, which took place in December. They joined with twenty members from the Presbyterian Churches in Bay City, Holt, and Jackson.

The group spent one week working on a second floor addition to the Presbyterian Church in Felipe Carrillo Puerto. When completed, the addition will become the main sanctuary and the old sanctuary will become a Fellowship area.

This was the fifth year of our ongoing ministry in the Yucatan. Many of the members who have participated find the work so rewarding they returned for each year on this mission trip.

We Grow BROADER through MISSION!

Our mission is to develop Christian Fellowship with the Presbyterian Women of this congregation through a faith journey of commitment to local, regional and international service, encouraging and supporting all tasks undertaken by each committee and sharing in spiritual development through these activities and opportunities that bring glory to God. Our group is an easy way to become more familiar with the women of our church and help support the many things we do.

Many of our activities take just a couple hours of your time, and others take a longer commitment, depending on what you would like to do. Our major focus is missions and many times we collect items, collect money, have fundraisers, and make items that are sent to those in need. We are now concentrating more on local needs; in our church, our city and our county.

This past year, we added a little over $2,000 to the Samaritan Fund of the church, gave many baby items to the Pregnancy Helpline, and many stuffed animals to the Livingston County Ambulance Service. We are now looking at ways to become involved with Love, INC. If you have suggestions or ideas where we could help, please let us know. The Board meets the 2nd Monday of each month from September – June at 7:00 pm.

The mission of our worship is to provide an open, hospitable environment, wherein people attain a better understanding and a richer experience of God’s grace in Jesus Christ.

Worship is central to the life and ministry of our family of faith. Since First Church added a second worship service to it’s Sunday morning schedule in November, 1995, we have experienced a 22% increase in average Sunday worship attendance and a 50% increase in average Sunday worship attendance in the past seven years. In 1999 we saw a ten year dream come true as we were able to purchase a Grand Piano for use in worship. We are delighted to have been able to have an additional accompanist to share the duties and enhance our worship.
