The three early churches were each within walking distance of the town center. The first church services were held in the pioneer schoolhouse on Gregory Street, between Sibley and Washington Streets. By 1839 the church had 42 members. The original meeting house was between Walnut and Sibley Streets. A brick church on Sibley Street near Court Street was used for 60 years. The present limestone structure was completed in 1915. The Christian Education wing was erected in 1968. As you come into the sanctuary, you'll be warmly greeted and given a bulletin of the service. People dress the whole range from casual to "Sunday best," so come as you are! We sing a mix of traditional hymns and some modern praise songs. After a children's sermon, children are dismissed to the nursery or Sunday School (grades K-4th), while older children are encouraged to stay for worship. We pray, sing, and hear the gospel together. After the service, parents go to their kids' Sunday School rooms, and there is a social time downstairs for everyone.
