Curriculum
Our curriculum provides for all areas of child development: physical, emotional, social, and cognitive, in an integrated approach. Appropriate curriculum planning is based on our teacher's observations and assessments of each child's special interest and development progress. The daily schedules in all the classrooms include free choice, fine and gross motor skill activities, creative art projects, sensory play, music and movement, literacy, science, math, outdoor play, discovery, and much more.
Philosophy
It is the desire of the Center Staff to provide developmentally appropriate experiences, which will help youngsters to develop intellectually, physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually, with a group of children their own age. The philosophy of the First Presbyterian Children's Care Center is to understand and support each child as an individual. We also believe that children grow and develop to their fullest potential if given the opportunity to explore, create and problem solve, with materials that are appropriate to their developmental age. Our Center will offer each child a warm, safe, and nurturing environment and provide activities to promote cooperation, creativity, independence, and a sense of self-esteem. We will encourage a sense of caring for the community and an awareness of the world around them.
